Our location

If you want to visit South Britanny, this is the place for you.The house is situated in Morbihan, in the south part of Vannes, near Conleau in a quiet, residential area. Just outside the garden you will find  footpaths  leading you to the coast, small beach, cafes and restaurants.

The medieval centre is only 3 Kms away. Vannes was built around the Cathedral and is famous for its half-timbered houses, its ramparts and washhouses. There is plenty to visit for those who like sightseeing.

On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, there are lively markets.

The House

It is a large modern and bright house.  Your room will be on the ground floor with direct access to the garden. It has a double bed, and private bathroom and toilet. You will find plenty of documents and guides in English  and even novels for those who love reading.

In the garden there are deckchairs waiting for you to relax . If you are a nature lover, you will be delighted to watch all sorts of birds as we are in a protected area and very near the sea.

Breakfast can be served in the garden whenever you like.  As a good day starts with a good breakfast,  it will be quite substantial with home made jams and brioches or crêpes and far breton,  our local specialities.

Danielle and her husband Jacques made my wife and me feel very much at home. Their beautiful home is located in a nice quiet neighnorhood within a short walk from the Gulf of Morbihan and a five minute drive from the heart of Vannes.

Danielle's suggestions for eating, shopping, and nearby sightseeing were a great help in maximizing the enjoyment of our short two night stay.. Danielle is a retired English teacher so language was never an issue during our visit and Jacques spoke much better English than I did French.

Staying with such a cheerful and helpful couple made our stay at Chez Danielle a hightlight of our trip.

Places to visit

Morbihan is the perfect destination for anyone who  loves the sea. It offers 100kms of an exceptional variety of landscapes, ranging from the quiet tiny beaches of the Gulf to the rocky shores of the Côte Sauvage in Quiberon. The Gulf of Morbihan is a member of the club of the « Most Beautiful Bays in the World » and you will be stunted by its beauty. From Conleau, you can go on boats trips around the gulf . From Quiberon , you can go to the island of Belle- Île, Houat or Hoedic.

In less than an hour by car, you can be in wonderful  places such as  Auray, Carnac and its famous megaliths. Further west is the mystical forest of Broceliande, birthplace of Merlin the wizard, the fairy Viviane and the Knights of the Round Table. Within 15 Kms there are pretty villages such as Arradon, Larmor Baden with the Gavrinis Cairn dating from 35000BC, Séné and its natural marshland  bird reserve.

Should you prefer not to use the car, then , from. our house you can walk to the Gulf Aquarium and butterfly gardens.

There are plenty more things to discover in this part of Britanny. It will be my pleasure to advise you according to your tastes.

Gastronomy

Let me just mention a platter of seafood in a small  restaurant facing the sea in Conleau, buckwheat galettes or wheat flour crêpes with cider, the Kouign-amann cake with salty butter  and the Far Breton.
